Building bespoke components for special vehicles is a fun and interesting challenge for our team. This client came to us with a Can Am Maverick and wanted more bass. Ron designed a built a custom sub woofer enclosure for an 8" sub - in the front of the cabin - to keep the bass forward.
In this 2019 Can Am Maverick Sport 1000, we used an AudioControl ACX 300.1 all-weather amplifier and a Helix 8" subwoofer in our custom enclosure that is "tough-coated" for use in all conditions. The power and signal are all run with coated connectors for many years of worry free fun. The system design is relatively straighforward, but making a box that would provide both driver and passenger with a noticable level of bass in a small footprint - in the front of the vehicle - was an interesting challenge. The Maverick Sport isn't quiet, and as you can see, it's a completely open cabin. Ron and Brian took the time to talk with our client to find a solution that met all needs and is both functional and practical.
The amp landed under the passenger seat and is running off the factory source unit. With high level inputs and the ability to work with nearly any input type, the ACM amps provide an excellent solution at various power levels. In this case, we have 300 watts to our Helix 8" sub, and there is a 600 watt version of the amp as well as 2, 4, 5 and 6 channel variants.
Our client was thrilled with the outcome - it's small size and integrated look is only outdone by the bass performance on the trails and burms.
